DRIVING INSTRUCTOR TRAINING

Enfield School of Motoring was formed in the 1930's but the current owner (Paul Michael) took over in 1976 and started training others after just a few years.

Paul has the highest grade and highest pass rate achievable and can pass on some of his Thirty four years of experience to you in our training courses.

To become a Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor D.S.A. A.D.I. (cars) you must have held a full car driving licence for 3 1/2 years before application.

The examination for entry to the register of Approved Driving Instructors is in three parts.

PART ONE: The Theory Test
This theory test consists of 100 questions with multi-choice answers and a hazard perception test.
The time allowed for this examination is one and a half hours.

PART TWO: The Practical Test of Driving ability
This consists of tests of eyesight and driving technique.
A very high standard of competence is required as the test is of an advanced nature.
This test lasts for approximately one hour.

PART THREE: The Practical Test ability to instruct
During this test, the candidate must show his/her knowledge and ability by giving practical driving instruction to the examiner,
who will act as a pupil.
This test lasts for approximately one hour.

PART ONE: Home study course for the part one examination and theoretical training for the part two exam. We also have a PC set up at our office to help you study and practice the hazard perception part of the test.

PART TWO: Three, two-hour advanced driving lessons (Six Hours) are given and each two hour session is backed up by a verbal debrief on the day and also a typed report of your performance sent throught the post a few days later.
Extra tuition is available if required.

PART THREE-(A): Ten, two-hour sessions covering the 10 pre-set tests in preparation for the final test of ability to instruct.

PART THREE-(B): Ten, two-hour sessions giving you the oportunity to teach some real learner drivers and some supervising instructors in role play, acting as learners which is the same format as the part three test.
